A Little Story of Lost and Found

Hey there,

I've got this story I've been meaning to share, something that happened when I made a big change in my life. It's about what I went through with all the teaching materials I created over the years, and I think you might find it a bit touching, maybe even a bit inspiring.

So, there I was, ready to leave my old teaching job because life was pulling me in a new direction, towards a new home and life with my partner. Everyone at work knew I was leaving, and it was all on good terms. But there was this little worry nagging at me, something a friend who left before me had warned about. She told me how everything she ever put into the school's system just vanished when she left. All her work, just gone. It was a tough pill to swallow, and I was determined not to let that happen to me.

I thought I had it all figured out. I shared all my precious work with my personal email, thinking it would keep everything safe. When I was in the process of leaving, all that work I tried to save just disappeared. With my school account deactivated, it deleted everything. It felt like losing a part of myself, all those hours and all that heart I put into my work, just erased. 🙃

But here's where the story takes a turn. That friend, the one who'd been through it all before me, she had my back more than I knew. Before I left, she had me share everything with her, and she kept it safe. It was like she threw me a lifeline without me even knowing I'd need it.

And then, just when I thought I'd gotten lucky enough, something kind of magical happened. I updated my personal computer last week (Sonoma 14.3.1 update ❤️), and out of nowhere, all my old work showed up somehow in my iCloud Drive. It was like getting a piece of my soul back.

So, what did I do? I dove right back into those materials, pulling out all the gems I thought were lost forever. It's been like a second wind for me, reigniting my passion and driving me to share even more with the world.

This whole experience, it taught me a lot. About how fragile digital things can be, but also about how unexpected life can be, bringing back lost things in the most surprising ways. And more than anything, it reminded me of the incredible value of friends who look out for you, sometimes even before you know you need it.

Thanks for letting me share this with you. It means a lot to have someone listen to these little chapters of our lives.

After a while crocodiles 🐊,

Daniela
